Husband and Wife Team Need Your Help Funding Their Debut iOS Game “Metro Defender”
What started as a fun and laugh filled conversation during weekend walks along the Lakeshore of Chicago turned into an idea that this team couldn’t walk away from.
Six months ago Greg and Brandy Dalton decided to commit their nights and weekends to bring their idea to life. Their debut game, Metro Defender, is a high octane combination of low altitude aerial combat and high speed pursuit set against a futuristic urban background. This team has strived to create something very unique to the current iOS gaming marketplace.
The game aims to mix numerous game play mechanics into a unique and addictive blend. As a commuter living in Chicago, Greg spends a lot of time on a cramped CTA train car with little wireless connectivity where the most convenient thing to do is play a game. “I believe I understand both what makes a game addictive, and have found a mix of game play elements that make this a somewhat unique experience, instead of being "just another" clone of whatever mobile game is currently dominating,” says Greg.
Can’t wait to play the game? Without funds to finish their project with the added elements a true gamer should expect, this project may not make it to the App store next year.
Greg and Brandy are unfortunately not full-time game developers. Greg, an avid game player since birth, has 10+ years in the software industry including 9 years with a fortune 100 company, and is currently working full-time. Brandy runs her own career coaching business as well as being a full-time stay at home mom to daughter Cayden, 3. Determined to bring this project to the marketplace, they are putting any and every spare moment into making Metro Defender the stand out game for 2014. However funding a start up game when you are already supporting a family in Chicago can be very difficult. This is why they’ve decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign to try and crowd fund the $7000 necessary to finish the project, protect the project legally and ensure it is the unique experience they want it to be.
Kickstarter campaigns operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model so if Metro Defender doesn’t reach its goal at the end of 30 days then Brandy and Greg go home empty-handed. Be sure and check out their website to follow their progress and make sure to spread the word to your social media networks. Consider donating as little as $1 to help their project come to life.
