A family friendly game bounces onto the Steam store for PC and Mac.

p>Populate the screen with the happy Boinks. Fill enough of the screen to progress to the next level.

Sounds easy doesn't it?

Born in 1978, the game's developer initially thought so too. The game started as a way to let younger kids join in with their parents without getting frustrated;

"I wanted a friendly game that made you smile even when nobody was doing anything. Especially for younger kids, games can become frustrating when the required task is not being accomplished. That's when the character vocalisation idea was born."

Boinks takes a well known game mechanic and adds personality. The technique was inspired by trail blazers such as Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and Tiny Wings, but with a twist: Giggles.

"Nothing is more infectious than laughter. So if the game's character finds the situation he's in funny, pretty soon the player will too."

As you fill the screen with the jolly characters, the more giggling and chatting you'll hear. But don't let that fool you. Beneath its child friendly exterior hides a fiendishly addictive puzzle game. One of the first reviewers on the Steam store has already clocked over 9 hours of Boinks related shenanigans.

Boinks is out now available on the Steam store for PC and Mac, with an iPad version planned for release before Christmas.
