Plymouth indie one of five businesses from over a hundred applicants to secure funding
Plymouth based independent games studio Remode securedŁ100k in funding from Creative England Business investment Fund to support growth across the UK. One of only five companies from 109 applicants to secure funding, Remode will use the capital injection to complete their much anticipated browser-based sci-fi strategy game‘Burrow’, slated for release towards the end of 2013.
‘Burrow’ won the TIGA Games contest last year and was awardedŁ25,000 from the Abertay Prototype fund in order to take the project to prototype stage. The latest funding from Creative England will enable Remode to complete development during 2013.
A free-to-play multiplayer strategy game developed with HTML5 and webGL technologies, Burrow ( http://burrowgame.com ) is set during the 22 nd century, when the biggest catastrophe in human history leaves the human race trapped underground, with the only hope of rescue within a secret bunker full of robots, originally designed for space mining. Players command the robots to mine resources, build a base and rescue survivors, whilst outfoxing a powerful enemy in a game uniquely combining strategy, stealth&suspense. The game is unique in bringing elements of stealth and suspense into a strategy game.
Remode CEO Ella Romanos, says,“We are all incredibly excited here at Remode. The Creative England funding is crucial in allowing us to complete Burrow, the most challenging and creative project we have undertaken yet. We are full speed ahead to complete the game by the end of this year– watch this space!.”
