(N.B. The monthly games chart is based on titles released and reviewed in the last month. The apps chart is based on titles reviewed over the last three months. Hence, this is not a cumulative chart and earlier released titles may have higher scores.)
Subway Surfers has managed to park(our) itself at the top of the Android Q i game chart for September 2012 through its blend of Temple Run mechanics and street art. It tagged the #1 spot ahead of unhinged point-and-click puzzler McPixel and the long-awaited conversion of The Bard’s Tale (an epic and humorous RPG taken straight from far-off Consoleland). Down in fifth place, meanwhile, Rovio’s latest Angry Birds spin-off Bad Piggies gives those wicked oinkers an all-new physics-puzzler of their own to star in. Propping up the table in tenth, Granny Smith is an engaging platform-racer starring a vengeful octogenarian who’s handy on her skates.
Over on this month's app chart, Rumpus has been causing a bit of a ruckus, topping the leaderboard with its swanky music discovery tool. Just behind that, GrooveRunner joins a growing list of running apps that help you track your performance, create training plans, and share your progress with friends. Back in fourth place, the latest version of popular launcher app Nova Launcher Prime continues to help Android owners to customise their home screens and strip away some of that manufacturer-created UI bloat. Following closely behind, Atom Launcher helps with the same thing, but places more of an emphasis on specific themes - it even has its own store to help you find that perfect look for your home screen.
We'll continue to provide an updated listing each and every month, together with a round-up of the year. For all the up-to-date information on which Android games, apps, and publishers are reviewing best, head on over to the Android Quality Index now.
