Deadline: Thursday 20 th September 2012, 12:00pm
The games industry already contributes£3.2 billion a year to the British economy and the UK games development sector contributes approximately£1 billion annually to UK GDP. Investment in the next generation of British gaming companies is not just vital for the industry but for the British economy as a whole.
The Games for Film competition is a chance for next generation UK games developers to access development funding, to create computer games for the promotion of films.
Four£25,000 prizes are available in the Games for Film contest. Two of these will be awarded to games that promote the upcoming theatrical release of two new British feature films; Spike Island and Smash and Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers. An additional two prizes will be awarded for proposals that demonstrate how games can be successfully used for a film’s cinematic or home entertainment release. The contest has been created by the University of Abertay Dundee, D-Media and IC tomorrow in association with Lionsgate UK and the BFI (British Film Institute).
The deadline is fast approaching, but applicants only need to answer five questions and provide a two minute YouTube video of their concept.
