ATHENS, GA– Polymath Games is pleased to announce that "Mort, The Intern" has been released as a part of the alphafunding program on Desura. "Mort, The Intern" is a 2D retro grapple hook tough as nails platformer that has been in development off and on for the past year and a half.
A trailer for Mort's alpha release can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKrLl3sfH7o
"Mort, The Intern" is based around a day in the life of Mort, a young intern for a soul placement company in the afterlife. Being an intern, he often gets the poor jobs no one else would want to handle themselves. However, one day it is discovered that a number of souls have been sent to the wrong destination, and Mort's boss calls on him to retrieve them and fix the error.
Mort features an automatic grapple hook mechanic that allows the player to concentrate on the swinging, rather than their aim. Some of the grapple points grant Mort special temporary abilities, such as doubles jumps. The afterlife is also non-linear, allowing for the free exploration of both Heaven and Hell. The soundtrack is being done by Jimmy Hinson ( http://www.biggiantcircles.com), whose previous credits include co-composing on Mass Effect 2 and composer for Pax 10 finalist PuzzleJuice.
Around eight areas are planned, plus a number of unlockables, including harder levels. A level editor is also currently in the works.
For the duration of the alpha, Mort will be 30% off. Mort can be purchased from Desura for $9.99 ($6.99 during the sale) at the following URL:
