p>Today marks day one of the 16th Annual Mod of the Year Awards. A chance for gamers to reflect on 2017 and forget raging about loot crates and microtransactions, and appreciate the many amazing mods available for our favorite games.
December 1st, 2017 - The 16th Annual Mod of the Year Awards have officially kicked off. A voting booth has been added to all mod profiles on ModDB, and for the next four weeks player votes will determine the top 100 (announced December 11) and the overall winner announced shortly after Christmas.
Last year the community voted 113,955 times, with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Chernobyl a massive crowd favorite the eventual winner, which was closely followed by Enderal an epic total conversion for Skyrim and Hearts of Iron IV: The Great War coming in 3rd. Previous winners include DayZ, Garrys Mod, Counter-Strike and other mods which have gone on to become household names.
From now until the close of 2017, we encourage you to write about mods which drive so much creativity and goodwill in games of all shapes and sizes (we'd be happy to point out some interesting ones), and join us in voting for your favorites. There's been some huge releases this year, make your vote count and we look forward to seeing who will be crowned the 2017 Mod of the Year. For more information on the event including a live scoreboard and how to vote head over to the official awards page.
