Project X Zone 2 for 3DS heading West

Monolith Software’s tactical RPG brand mash-up Project X Zone 2 will be released for the 3DS in the West, Bandai Namco has said.

The game will be released both physically and digitally some time this autumn.

Licenses to feature include Capcom’s Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Megaman, Namco’s Tekken, .hack, Tales of Vesperia and God Eater and Sega’s Yakuza, Virtua Fighter and Sakura Wars.

Working hand-in-hand with renowned publishers such as Sega and Capcom is a blessing,” Bandai namco’s VP of IP strategy and marketing Herve Hoerdt said. Exchanging ideas and working towards making fans happy is the ultimate goal behind this cross-over.

With dozens of famous characters and licenses, unique humour traits and highly tactical gameplay; Project X Zone 2 presents itself as a serious contender to be a critically appreciated Tactical RPG.”

The publisher has also revealed that the first game in the series has to date sold (or perhaps shipped, it’s not clear) 400k units worldwide.

The first game was released in Japan in 2012 and the west in summer 2013.
