Open-world path tool licensed to Chinaâ??s Tencent
Leading AI tool provider Xaitment has struck a new deal with a China-based game business.
The German firm has licensed the xaitMap AI technology to Tencent, an Asia game operator, publisher and developer.
Xaitment says the deal cements its position as a prominent AI game middleware provider.
“Tencent is not only one of the top developers and operators of online games in China, but also a trendsetter,” said Xaitment CEO Andreas Gerber.
XaitMap’s core use is in generating navigation meshes, which directs the path of NPCs across open-world environments. Xaitment’s position is that the licensing price of its tool is cheaper than a studio building AI programs from the ground-up. The firm says xaitMap integrates well into existing platforms, engines and middlewares.
Gerber added: “By choosing Xaitment, Tencent is investing in the trend of using AI middleware to reduce the costs associated with game production – enabling them to create amazing games while saving time and money.”
