Low delegate numbers lead event chairs to pull the plug

Women in Games conference cancelled

The Women in Games conference 2010 has been cancelled due to low delegate numbers, organisers have announced.

The event, which would have been in its seventh year, was to take place at Bradford College on the 25th and 26th of this month.

The central theme of WIG2010 was to be diversity, with the intention of bringing nationality and ethnicity issues into debate, as well as gender issues.

In a direct communication, conference chairs Kaye Elling and Marian Carr have promised all paid-up delegates that they will receive full refunds “as soon as possible”.

They went on to apologise to everyone who was to attend.

“Cancelling the event was not an easy decision to make, but our delegate numbers this year were far below the figures needed to break even financially,” they said.

“The conference team would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of WIG2010, and hope that you will continue to support Women in Games in any future events.”
