Gina Jackson to develop partnerships and initiatives to encourage recruitment of more women in the industry

Women in Games appoints ex-Eidos exec as new CEO

Not-for-profit organisation Women in Games Jobs has hired the former head of business development for New Media at Eidos as its first CEO.

Gina Jackson, who has also worked at companies such as Kuju and Ocean Software, will work on developing partnerships and initiatives for the organisation to help encourage the recruitment of more women in the games industry.

“WIGJ has made great strides since it was founded in 2009 with a network of over 3000 supporters worldwide," said Women in Games Jobs founder David Smith.

"The level of awareness of the gender imbalance in the games sector has increased significantly in recent months but there is more that can be done to encourage the recruitment and retention of a more diverse games industry workforce.

"We think Gina will help bring WIGJ to the next level of becoming a professional membership organisation capable of working with government, trade bodies, employers, those already working in games and job seekers to campaign for a more inclusive games sector for the benefit of the games industry as a whole.”

Jackson added: “I am delighted to take a more active role in WIGJ and I am looking forward to developing partnerships and initiatives across the media sector to ensure that the games industry can attract the best talent at every level.

"I am excited about celebrating the achievements of women already working in games and inviting many others to join a vibrant, creative and passionate industry.”

Jackson will be attending next week’s Develop in Brighton conference on Wednesday July 11th.
