Open-world title to integrate cross-platform play

Watch Dogs confirmed as launch title for PS4

Ubisoft has confirmed its upcoming open-world title Watch Dogs is coming to next-gen consoles with the announcement of its availability as a launch title on PS4.

Revealing the news and brand new footage of the game at the PS4 unveiling in New York, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the new generation of games would "blur the lines between real and virtual worlds more than ever before".

He also suggested that Watch Dogs could be available on multiple devices in one form or another, especially given the PS4’s allowance for cross-platform play on smartphones, tablets and the Vita. He did not however reveal how this would be implemented.

"Making gaming experineces that are mroe connect, immmersive and more interactive," he said.

"We are creating games that will be played anywhere, anytime on many different devices."

He later added: “Ubisoft has a strong history of supporting new technologies with unique and creative offerings.

“The power and capability of the PS4 allows the Watch_Dogs team to further push the boundaries of what was previously thought possible in interactive entertainment.”

Watch Dogs has also been confirmed for release on Nintendo’s Wii U.
