Vogster admits to â??significantâ?? staff cuts

Doubts emerge over the firmâ??s Chicago, Moscow, Kiev offices

New York-headquartered developer Vogster has announced drastic cuts to its workforce following speculation that the company had closed for good.

Vogster failed to quantify the impact of its downsizing measures – which are thought to affect the company’s offices in Chicago, Moscow, Kiev, as well as its New York HQ.

The company said its extensive reformation will allow it to focus on enhancing and expanding its “shooter/MMO hybrid”, CrimeCraft.

A prepared statement illustrated the severity of the situation, with the firm stating it has made “significant staffing changes” after releasing two games in the last three months.

Vogster has transitioned the company “from launch team to live team” on one of its properties. As with the cyclical nature of game design, the maintenance staff that remains will likely be a fraction the size of its past workforce.

The group implied, however, that it would still be developing new titles in the future. The company could not be reached at the time of going to press.

“Vogster has seen a number of releases this year” said Daniel Prousline, the group’s VP of development. “As an independent developer, we need to be very strategic in our use of available resources.”

“We regret the necessary staffing changes and the talented employees that this impacts, but it is an unavoidable step in moving to the operational stage of CrimeCraft and optimizing for the development of yet to be announced titles.”

The company’s Chicago, Moscow, and Kiev offices were not cited in Vogster’s statement. The firm only chose to mention its New York headquarters, which “remains fully operational and committed to the development and production of existing and future titles.”

The group had pledged to make a series of content updates to CrimeCraft in the coming year.
