Eye-opening graphics set new benchmark for handhelds; broad control range in play

Sony’s has outlined the potential of its new high-end handheld with a live demonstration of the device’s upcoming Uncharted game.

In the video below, SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida exposes the sheer range of control methods for the new PSP handheld.

The game can be navigated with standardised analogue stick and button controls, but also with the device’s 5-inch multitouch OLED screen.

The system’s gyro controls was also used to navigate an in-game sniper rifle, while the peculiar multi-touch track-pad (found on the back of the device) was used, at points, to control the game’s character.

The Uncharted title provided an illuminating exhibition of the system’s technical muscle, with its ARM Cortex-A9 4 core processor allowing for impressive rendering real-time lighting to run smoothly.

The game has not yet officially been confirmed yet to be in development at Uncharted creators Naughty Dog.

The demonstration, and other related videos, can be found over at Gamespot.
