Praise is rife for many of the reveals from this week’s E3, but some of that should be directed to UK animation firm Axis.
The Scottish CGI studio helped to create the announcement trailers for Microsoft Studio’s Crackdown revival and Deep Silver’s Dead Island 2.
The new Xbox One outing for Crackdown debuted during Microsoft’s E3 press conference on Monday – as originally revealed by Develop. Axis director Stephen Donnelly worked closely with the art and design team at the game’s developer Cloudgine, a new UK studio headed up by GTA and Crackdown creator Dave Jones.
Meanwhile, Donnelly’s fellow director Ben Craig worked with Deep Silver on the reveal of Dead Island 2, creating a video that is a damn sight more colourful and humourous than the much-talked about reveal for the original Dead Island (incidentally, also done by Axis).
"E3 is an amazing week in the entertainment industry calendar and we are so proud to have two great new pieces of work showcased to such a massive audience," said Axis executive producer and managing director Richard Scott.
"We always look to grab people’s attention and whilst we put a lot of focus on the quality of execution every one of our trailers starts with the most important ingredient – a great idea that will engage audiences.
