Current tech not up to scratch, but Newell hopeful as hardware improves

Valve wants DOTA 2 on tablets

Valve’s Gabe Newell says his company has tried to get Defense of the Ancients 2 running on tablets.

This would be the first forray into mobile for the PC-centric company, which yesterday revealed plans to begin contructing its own living room PC.

"We were working on getting Dota 2 running on some tablets," Newell told Kotaku.

"That ended up being kind of a disappointment. But the good news is that tablets are getting faster very quickly, so I think we’ll get the kind of performance we want and other game developers want in the near future."

DOTA 2 is Valve’s entry into the popular online multiplayer arena genre.

Games like DOTA 2 and Legue of Legends require notoriously fast player reactions, so it would be more than interesting to see how such a game was recieved on touch-screen interfaces.
