Intel Developer Blog: This week, a look at Project Anarchy, the free mobile game engine from Havok

Project Anarchy is getting the hackers talking stateside, but what does it mean for the whole developer world?

For those of you wondering, Project Anarchy is a free mobile game engine that supports Android x86, among other platforms. It includes Havok’s Vision Engine along with Havok Physics, Havok Animation Studio and Havok AI. It has C++ architecture, optimised mobile rendering and a flexible asset management system. You can read more about it here.

Project Anarchy’s YouTube channel has some really useful overview videos that show you how to create game apps for Android on Intel using Project Anarchy. Grab yourself a cuppa and watch some of these videos. They will provide you with:

  • An overview of the different components required for animating a player character in a typical action adventure game
  • Knowledge of how to add extra details to animation transitioning
  • Examples of how to implement a third-person locomotion model
  • The ability to add interactivity in Project Anarchy's Animation Studio
  • An introduction to terrain creation and editing
  • The features available in the Engine View
  • Knowledge of how to change and create new layouts, add and dock panels in a layout- Restore default layouts, browse layouts as XML files on system
  • A brief introduction to the Visual Shader Editor and how to create a simple shader
  • The basics of Project Anarchy's editor, vForge
  • An overview of LUA scripting inside Project Anarchy vForge
  • And much more – you’ll have to watch to find out!

They are all listed on the Intel Developer Zone, so take a look and let me know how they inspire you in the comment box below.
