Founder hoping to expand developer into other markets with plush toys, comic books and web videos
San Francisco-based mobile studio Pixowl has raised $1.2m in funding to grow its roster of titles.
As reported by Venturebeat, the new titles will be based around its tilt-controlled mobile game Doodle Grub, a title inspired by the classic Snake series featured on many early phones.
The studio’s founder Arthur Madrid said he hoped to expand the developer by creating new titles specifically around The Grub character, with ambitions to open up the franchise to other markets through plus toys, comic books and web videos.
“The way we plan to develop our company is to create games around The Grub character,” he said.
As well as Pixowl, Madrid has founded other companies such as 1-Click Media and social media network Wixi Inc designed for watching and sharing photos, audio and media.
