Indian market for games is growing exponentially
Unity has announced plans to triple the amount of people it employs in India during 2017, as it looks to grow out its work in VR & AR in collaboration with local firms.
A big part of this is actually part of Unity expanding to fill the demand for AR and VR design tools for the manufacture and automobile industries as the technologies grow beyond video games.
Unity's director for South Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, Quentin Staes-Polet, spoke to the Economic Times, mentioning that it makes perfect sense, seeing as 70% of the world's VR work is created using Unity.
"People in automobile and manufacturing have raised a demand for interactive and immersive platforms for their customers and internal work," said Staes-Polet.
"This high-fidelity visualisation cannot be achieved with 3D design tools. Therefore, we are consorting with IT integration firms that are building up augmented and virtual reality practices."
Alongside this, there's the growing games scene in India, getting stronger each year as the market matures. It's been recently buoyed by an influx of affordable hardware and is now growing an exponential rate.
