Unite 12: Students, indies and triple-A studios recognised at engine outfit's annual prize ceremony

Seven studios took home prizes at tonight's Unity Awards, which recognise the best games and applications made using the Unity engine.

The show, taking place as part of the ongoing Unite 12 Unity user conference, saw Madfinger Game's FPS Dead Trigger take two awards, including the public-voted accolade, the Community Choice Award.

Elsewhere Sega-owned UK studio The Creative Assembly received the night's biggest prize – the Golden Cube Award – for iOS RTS Total War Battles: Shogun.

Best Student Project - Pulse, by Team Pixel Pi
Best Visual Experience - Escape Plan, by Funbits
Best Technical Achievement - Dead Trigger, by Madfinger Games
Best Gameplay – Beat Sneak Bandit, by Simogo
Best Non-Game - Bats: Furry Fliers of the Night, by Story Worldwide & Bookerella
Best Serious Game - Powers of Minus Ten, by Green-Eye Visualization and Laura Lynn Gonzalez
Community Choice Award - Dead Trigger, by Madfinger Games
Golden Cube Award - Total War Battles: Shogun, by The Creative Assembly

"How incredibly amazing this is," said Unity CEO David Helgason on stage. "We have to admit that every single finalist's game here tonight deserves an award."

"I want to thank everybody here, our community, and the entire Unity team, now 203 strong."

The Unity Awards were noticeably more slick this year, but kept their playful, relaxed atmosphere that the company has fostered for its seven years in business.
