Pupils to learn about finance, marketing, PR and the development process

UCL launches business-focused course The Games Quarter

University College London is opening a new business-focused course called The Games Quarter to help teach developers how to run a studio.

Created in partnership with TIGA, the CPD-certified course covers four areas: business and finance, design, development and production, marketing and public relations and general industry knowledge.

The course will offer a chance for developers to learn more about how to secure funding, what other training programmes are available, such as incubator and accelerator schemes, and will also be offered help building up industry contacts.

The first Games Quarter program will run for 26 evening sessions over eight weeks between June 10th and July 29th.

“The Games Quarter will bring together expert practitioners and a diverse community to collaborate and co-curate a learning experience that will help participants learn how to run a games business in the real world,” said UCL Enterprise’s Alastair Moore.

“From finance to design, and development to marketing, The Games Quarter’s uniquely holistic approach will show how all the pieces of the fast moving and complex games industry fit together.”
