Trinigy integrates DMM physics tech

Digital Molecular Matter â?? the material physics tool found in The Force Unleashed â?? will be added to Trinigyâ??s Vision Engine

Game engine group Trinigy is bolstering its own Vision Engine by adding Pixelux’s Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), the same physics technology found in LucasArts’ Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

DMM systems can simulate the physics of objects in relation to their material properties, as well as govern the deformation and breaking points of those materials. The tech’s most famous appearance so far was in the 2007 release Star Wars: The Force Unleashed; a game which also utilised Natural Motion’s prominent Euphoria Engine.

Trinigy’s Vision Engine SDK will now include a DMM plugin where users can manage deformable and breakable materials.

Dag Frommhold, Managing Partner at Trinigy, says that DMM is an “amazing piece of technology”, adding that Trinigy and Pixelux are working on multiple projects together.

“DMM is ideally suited to complement the Vision Engine,” he added. “With this new addition to our SDK, developers can achieve a level of realism that has never been seen in gaming before.”

Raphaël Arrigoni, Director EMEA at Pixelux, returned the compliment by stating that “Vision Engine’s real-time editing capabilities and extensibility are perfectly suited for empowering developers to drive next generation physics development.”
