Tools firms look to aid education woes with free tech

We’ve just posted up the latest in our monthly series of games education features – and this month we look at a handful of the games technology companies which offer cheap and sometimes free software to universities and colleges.

Autodesk, Microsoft, Emergent, Luxology and Softimage are all profiled and all offer a mix of cut-price and free software to those looking to teach games development.

It’s an interesting topic to explore when many in games development are quick to criticise courses teaching games production – clearly the tools are available to those wishing to correctly educate students on relevant tools used in studios.
