Hasson airs fears that other territories will end up outperforming UK developers. The CEO of development trade body Tiga has warned that UK games studios may be losing their lofty status amongst the world's development elite - and that studios in the country should capitalise on their design skills to maintain an edge.
"There is now a big question mark as to if the UK is still the third largest creator of video games in the world," he told attendees to the Northern Exposure conference, taking place today in York.
His comments come ahead of a report to be revealed by UK Trade and Investment and managed by Tiga that looks at the competitive market for developers around the world.
Although the results of the research are still to be revealed, Hasson hinted that it may be revealed the UK is playing catch-up to fast growing development sectors in Korea and Canada, and the US market,
"At the moment the thing that keeps business here is our design talent," he added before encouraging studios to plan better for skills management and in-house staff training.
