All of publisher's internal and external teams now able to use Emergent's tech
THQ has signed a master licensing agreement with Emergent Game Technologies, that'll give its studios access to all of Emergent's products.
The licence covers Gamebryo and the recently-released Gamebryo Lightspeed, which focuses on rapid prototyping and quick iteration. All of THQ's development studios, be they internal or external, will now be able to use the genre-agnostic engine to develop games for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC.
“We were impressed by Emergent’s approach of providing a single development environment that we can use to create any title on our product schedule,” said Roy Tessler, senior vice president, production and worldwide studios, THQ.
“Its technologies will allow us to reduce the time we spend in redundant recreation of core technology. Through rapid prototyping and rapid iteration, we can build better games with less risk by redirecting development resources to allow our designers to concentrate on innovating original game play.”
