THQ Nordic is continuing on its acquisition spree, today announcing it has picked up the rights for three more intellectual properties to add to its increasingly large pile of dormant titles to add to the company’s repertoire.
These titles are Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy), War Leaders: Clash of Nations and Legends of War. Sphinx was a third person action-adventure title while the latter two are turn-based strategy games.
Lars Wingefors, the founder and group CEO of THQ Nordic, said the acquisitions are not financially minded, but "due to our love for these types of games they were natural acquistion targets that add up to our portfolio."
He singles out Sphinx in particular as being "very well suited for the Nintendo audience" saying that the company are excited for the Nintendo Switch and already have two titles in development for it. Sphinx was released in 2003 and was well received, although a sequel never materialised.
War Leaders and Legends of War came along later, with the former releasing for the PC in 2008 and the later emerging onto the PSP in 2010 before delivering a sequel in 2012.
It’s been just over a month since THQ Nordic announced its acquisition of all Novalogic franchises, and with its ownership of most of the former THQ’s licenses too, trying to guess what the company could have in store for the Switch is next to impossible.
