Landmark figure reached a year after launch

Temple Run passes 100m downloads

Just a year after it was launched on the App Store, Temple run has reached the landmark figure of 100 million downloads.

The free-to-play free running game has delighted fans with its speed and simple mechanics, resulting in 68 million downloads for iOS, and 32 million on Android.

“We never imagined that the game we were making and loved would be so well received around the world,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios.

“The last year has been incredible for us, and we are grateful to fans of the game. We hope to be able to provide them with more entertainment from the brand for years to come.”

If download numbers translated directly to population, 13 percent of Americans would have installed temple run on their phones.

In June, Imangi released Temple Run: Brave, a crossover with the Disney-Pixar film, which shot to the top of the App Store charts and has remained in the top ten ever since.

To celebrate the game’s year of success, Imangi has released all of its previous games for free download, along with a new patch adding retina display support for the iPad.
