Firm insists the delays will 'maximise full potential in terms of player experience and market performance'

Take Two has delayed the releases of two key games in the publisher’s portfolio.

Both 2K Czech’s Mafia II and Rockstar San Diego’s Red Dead Redemption have been delayed until the first half of FY10, meaning that the games now have an ambiguous launch window between  November 2009 to April 2010.

The delay has been implemented to “allow additional development time for the titles and to maximize their full potential in terms of the quality of the player experience and market performance."

During its quarterly financial report, Take-Two also reported to shareholders that the delays will impact on the company’s revenue forecasts, revising the full-year projections down by some $100m.

The publisher reiterated its string line up for the rest of the year, with games including  BioShock 2 and new GTAIV DLC episode The Ballad of Gay Tony.
