Salford studio also aims to expand Chimpact franchise with new titles and merchandise

Yippee Entertainment plots publishing move

Chimpact developer Yippee Entertainment is plotting a move into game publishing, says studio CEO Mike Delves.

Speaking at a Microsoft Windows 8 developer event in London, Delves said that on the back of its hugely successful Chimpact title, which reached number one on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 across all countries for two weeks, the company would be looking to publish games created by other developers in future.

As well as expanding its business with a new publishing arm under the Yippee Entertainment brand, Delves said the studio would continue developing its own titles.

He stated the developer was looking to expand the Chimpact brand and release a number of new games using characters from the title and expanding the Chimpact universe. The studio is also looking at merchandising the IP.

To date, Chimpact has ganrered nearly two million downloads across platforms.

As well as developing its own IP, Delves said Yippee was also partnering with new clients to translate "big name brands" into the mobile games space.
