XBL indie games games can now be bigger, cheaper

Microsoft can seemingly do no right when it comes to indie developers on Xbox Live, but a new set of policy changes may go some way toward appeasing the indie dev community.

Three major changes have now been made to the Indie Games developer T&C’s.

First, games can now be up to 500MB in size. Previously Indie titles had been capped at a maximum of 150MB.

Additionally, MS has eased its pricing policies. Previously, any game over 50MB in size had to cost either 240 or 400 Microsoft Points. That size limit has now been raised to 150MB, meaning any titles below that size can now sell for as little as 80 MSP.

Finally the arbitrary 10 title limit has been scrapped, meaning that developers can now sell up to 20 games on the Indie store at any one time. When the service first launched the limit stood at eight.

Hopefully MS can also find a way to give Indie titles a larger presence on the new-look Xbox 360 dashboard, too.
