King has added Silicon Valley and tech industry luminary Robert Cohn to its board of directors.
Cohn’s appointment comes as the social games company, which is responsible for Candy Crush Saga, is enjoying rapid growth.
King’s games have taken the number one application and game slot on Facebook and top grossing app positions on iOS and Android, with over 12 billion gameplays per month across mobile, social and online.
“King has seen tremendous growth over the past couple years and has become one of the most prominent companies to impact the games industry today,” said Cohn.
“I’m impressed with the team, the company’s culture, the stellar business model and the exciting challenges ahead. I look forward to serving on King’s board.”
Cohn joins King as a notable high tech entrepreneur, CEO, venture capitalist and board member.
He founded Octel Communications in 1982, the company that commercialised voice mail, and ran it for 15 years until it was purchased by Lucent Technologies, where he was an executive vice president.
He served as investing partner at Sequoia Capital and on public and private boards from start-up to Fortune 500 companies. Cohn was also a governor of NASDAQ for three years.
King co-founder and CEO Riccardo Zacconi added: “We are excited to have Bob join our board given his broad experience with public and private companies across the globe and the exceptional work he has done with his current and past portfolio of businesses.”
Last month, King announced a company-wide rebranding and posted figures of 108 million monthly unique players.
