Render Rocket debuts new tools duo

LA-based cloud-rendering services firm Render Rocket has introduced two new tools onto the market named LaunchPad and Throttle.

LaunchPad serves an an open-source cloud-based rendering application. Accessed in-tool through Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, or Maxon Cinema 4D automates the checking, packaging up and submission of given render jobs to the Render Rocket Cloud, promising to allow artists to work faster and reduce the likelihood of rendering failures. Once their work is submitted artists can view renders to monitor launched and rendered jobs. LaunchPad is set to be made available for Windows and Mac.

Render Rocket’s Throttle, meanwhile, lets users control render resources working on their project, providing them the ability to manage both costs and render delivery. Throttle allows Render Rocket users to scale up or down the number of servers working on their renders as they wish so as to respect the constraints of deadlines and budgets.

"Our users just want renders to work," stated Render Rocket CEO Ruben Perez. "With LaunchPad, we’ve managed to take the very complex process of cloud rendering and make it as easy as one-click from within their favourite 3D application. We’ve also made our LaunchPad plugin open source, so our power users can customise it to align with their workflow."

Render Rocket is also set to introduce a new pricing model as of September 1st this year, charging by the number of render nodes per hour rather than by cores per hour. With individual render nodes set to be charged at $1-to-$4 for an hour, Render Rocket expects a 35 per cent decrease in comparison with it’s current pricing model.
