Rajat Taneja has quit his role as corporate VP of commerce at Microsoft and joined EA as global chief technology officer.
He leaves his role as corporate VP at Microsoft’s commerce division after 15 years working at the computer giant.
He will now be responsible for driving critical technology decisions and investments for Electronic Arts on a global basis.
“Gaming is at a technological confluence that is almost unprecedented, where commerce, online delivery of content and services and multiple engagement platforms are converging,” said Taneja.
“It’s an exciting time to join EA, where they are clearly executing against a vision to lead the industry through this transition and deliver the best content to consumers.”
Taneja’s previous work at Microsoft included leading the division responsible for development and deployment of all commerce and transaction technologies across online services such as Xbox Live and Windows Phone.
He had also previously led the PC giant’s online digital advertising platforms and their first business online service offering.
