Nielsen: Call of Duty WWII and Assassin’s Creed Origins most anticipated games for Holiday 2017

Data firm Nielsen has published its usual rankings of the most anticipated games for the upcoming holiday season (from October to December 2017).

Nielsen measures anticipation based on awareness, purchase interest and consumer rating, among other key metrics. This gives a percent value (called Game Rank) reflecting “how strong the overall anticipation level is for the title, relative to the pre-release anticipation levels of all previous titles that released on the platform(s),” the company explained in its methodology. 6,000 gamers have been surveyed between August 21st and September 23rd to collect this data.

And without surprise, its Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII (releasing on November 3rd) that leads the pack for the multi-platform games, with a Game Rank of 99 per cent. It’s followed by Assassin’s Creed Origins with 95 per cent, Star Wars Battlefront II with 90 per cent and WWE 2K18 with 80 per cent.

For exclusive titles, Forza Motorsport 7 takes the top spot for Xbox One with a Game Rank of 85 per cent. The title released earlier this month but wasn’t out when the survey was conducted. Another racing game takes No.1 on PS4: Gran Turismo Sport, which launches on October 18th, has an anticipation rank of 85 per cent.

Meanwhile on PC, Ages of Empires: Definitive Edition takes the lead with a 92 per cent Game Rank, followed by two VR titles: Rockstar’s L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files and Bethesda’s Fallout 4 VR.

Switch is a no-brainer with Super Mario Odyssey being the most anticipated release for Q4, while Pokémon Ultra Moon is at the top of the 3DS ranking, with a Game Rank of 99 per cent.
