UK developer's debut mobile game Potion Pop

MAG Interactive acquires Brighton studio Delinquent

MAG Interactive has acquired Brighton studio Delinquent.

The Swedish company had previously invested in the start-up in January to help fund development of its first mobile title, Potion Pop.

Delinquent was formed by former PopCap senior game designer David Bishop, Relentless co-founder David Amor and investor Chris Lee. It houses a team of 12 staff with experience at companies such as EA and Activision. The deal means MAG Interactive now employs 50 people across is Sweden and UK studios.

“MAG has never been a silent investor,” said Amor.

“They have been very active, supportive and incredibly valuable to have around. Launching our first game, Potion Pop, as part of the MAG umbrella will give us immediate reach to over 75 million users as well as much bigger resources in terms of marketing and distribution.

“Working with them over the past months has made us realise that we both value teams with a high level of independence and we have the same approach to making games. It just seems natural to be one big team. We are thrilled to be part of the MAG family and excited about what’s to come.”
