A newly confirmed development kit for Amazon’s Kindle e-reader is coming next month. Named the KDK, the kit will allow for the creation of games and apps for the device, which will be sold through an App Store-style service.
The platform is innitially entering a limited beta phase, which will let registered participants help analyse the functionality of the KDK, access developer support, test content on Kindle, and submit finished content.
"The Kindle Development Kit includes sample code, documentation, and the Kindle Simulator, which helps developers build and test their content by simulating the 6-inch Kindle and 9.7-inch Kindle DX on Mac, PC, and Linux desktops," reads a statement from Amazon. "We are excited to see what you invent for Kindle."
