Gary Whitta returns for writing duties on Telltale’s The Walking Dead’s final season

Gary Whitta, the co-writer of the original season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead game, is returning to write the fourth and final season of the game, marking his first writing on the franchise since the 400 Days DLC.

In the meantime, Whitta has kept himself busy, with involvement in Star Wars cinematic spin=off Rogue One and being attached to Guy Ritchie’s as yet unproduced third Sherlock Holmes film.

"Collaborating with Telltale on the first season of Clementine’s journey through the world of The Walking Dead was one of the highlights of my career, so reuniting with them to now bring her story to a close with this final season feels like a homecoming," said Whitta.

"Clementine has become not just one of the most compelling characters in the Walking Dead pantheon but one of the great video game characters of all time. I hope we’re able to do justice to her and to her millions of fans. This one feels special."

Telltale’s first season of The Walking Dead set the wheels in motion for Telltale as we know it now, opening the way for a glut of licensed tough-decision-‘em-ups featuring some of the most interesting characters in pop culture.

Whitta’s return marks a fitting end to Telltale’s most popular series.
