Gaming academia-focused event to take place November 2nd and 5th

Future Play 2008 registration opens

Registration is now open for the 2008 edition of the Future Play ‘digital media research knowledge transfer forum’.

The conference is aimed at games industry members and academics working in the field of interactive media, and is based on three key themes: future game development, future game talent, and future game impacts and applications.

“Future Play is a one-of-a-kind event, a place where researchers and scholars can present their peer-reviewed research to professionals from industry and government,” said Deborah Loosemore, chief organizer of the conference.

“Attendees are going to have their minds opened to what attendees have called ‘fantastic, insightful and relevant’ ideas.”

Currently, three keynote speakers have signed up: Katie Salen, writer and acting director of design and technology at New York’s The New School For Design; Ken Perlin, Academy Award-winning computer science professor and creator of the Perlin noise technique; and Don Daglow, president of the recently closed Stormfront Studios.

The conference takes place from November 3rd to the 5th at the Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto. More details and registration info can be found on the conference website.
