Trendy’s upcoming Dungeon Defenders 2 will be the first ‘Early Access’ game on the PS4 when it launches in pre-alpha state next week.
The action tower defence title has already been available on Steam Early Access since December, but has now been given the greenlight to release in a similar state on Sony’s console.
Though the title will eventually be released as a free-to-play game with microtransactions, players will need to purchase a currency bundle to play the Pre-Alpha Access version.
Dungeon Defenders 2 will be released on PS4 on September 29th. According to the Steam page, the full version was scheduled to "remain in Early Access for at least a year after its initial release on Steam". Given its initial December launch, the full game may not go live until next year.
“Please note that Dungeon Defenders 2 is still under development,” said Trendy marketing director Philip Asher.
“During this time, some features, like local co-op and controller support, will be ahead of the PC version, but other features and content will be rolling in after they are released on PC.”
