Cancelled Aliens RPG was complete

The CEO of development studio Obsidian has claimed that his studios’ cancelled Aliens RPG was, to all intents and purposes, complete when Sega decided to pull the plug.

If you had come in and played any of the last builds we were working on, you would have said it was a finished game,” Feargus Urquhart told Joystiq.

That’s how close we were. It looked and felt like it was ready to ship.”

The cancellation is probably all the more galling for Obsidian considering the chart success enjoyed by Rebellion’s Aliens vs Predator, which topped the UK’s February listings despite a luke-warm reception from critics.

Another title based on the franchise that remains on Sega’s release schedule is the Gearbox developed Aliens: Colonial Marines. There’s not been much said of the game in recent times, though Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford told MCV that it is still on track earlier this year.
