Brisbane 48 hour game-making challenge starts today

The Independ Game Developers’ Association (IGDA) is kicking off the 48 hour game-making challenge in Brisbane today as part of the Emulator event.

The event runs from 30th September through to 2nd October, and has 16 indie teams and 4 pro league teams signed on to compete to see who can create the best game in a closed environment in under 48 hours.

Judging for the event will commence at the end of the 4th of October, and will be at the Creative Industries Precinct from 4pm, and the winners will be announced at 6pm.

Truna (aka j.turner), Brisbane IGDA chapter auntie, told MCV: "It’s all about the passion, jellybeans and helping each other to build a really strong Aussie game community!"

This is the fifth year the 48 hour game competition has run, and each year the teams have to make a game centred around three ‘keywords’. This year, the words (as chosen by MCV’s own Guy Blomberg) are ‘badger’, ‘key’, and ‘suit’.

Emulator is a 10 day festival held in Brisbane, which is run by Bleeding Heart and used to contribute funds to the Starlight Foundation charity.

To sign-up for the completely free MCV Pacific News Digest email service, to be launched in October in conjunction with the new MCV Pacific website, please email mcvpacific@intentmedia.co.uk with your name, job title, company name, nature of your company’s business and the country in which you’re based.
