Almost 9,000 contributors back motion control-based project
Neil Stephenson’s sword fighting Kickstarter project Clang has passed its $500k funding target.
Developed by US studio Subutai corporation, the game has reached $518,937 with six hours to go at the time of writing, meaning the games development can now go ahead.
The project has so far received close to 9,000 backers, with eight of those contributors pledging more than $10,000 each.
Clang is based on arena-style gameplay using motion control instead of a typical gamepad, with the studio aiming to emulate a realistic sword-fighting experience.
Headed by American author Neil Stephenson, who has written books such as Snow Crash and The System of the World, the Kickstarter surged past $150k in its first two days after a hugely popular video featuring comic scenes of sword training and a cameo by Valve boss Gabe Newell.
