Platform offers download-while-you-play service
Awomo, the rapid-speed games portal, is nearing full launch having announced the service back in 2008.
The PC download service is designed to deliver the largest PC games “up to 20 times faster than other download services”, the company said, because games can be played while still being downloaded.
Awomo is still in beta, ahead of a full launch in Febuary.
The portal’s owner GDC said its server-based tech allows for piracy-free gaming due to unique streaming and compression technology.
"Awomo is set to be the most exciting development in the game download scene”, said GDC chief Nils Herrnberger.
“It will accelerate time-to-play massively, giving gamers a whole new experience. We’ll be aiming to offer five new blockbusters every month, in addition to continuously ramping up our popular backlist.”
