Doctors Without Borders receiving record amount from organisation

Summer Games Done Quick raises $1.2m for charity

Last week’s speedrun event Summer Games Done Quick raised more than $1.2m for charity, organizers have announced.

Polygon reports Games Done Quick beat last year’s SGDQ total by $500,000, and donations are still coming in and being counted.

Whatever the final total ends up being, it’s a new record for the event and all of it goes to charity Doctors Without Borders.

The week-long event packed in160 speedruns featuring a wide array of titles. More than 22,000 donors contributed an average of $43.29 – though a single contribution of $21,498 heavily manipulated that figure.

Games Done Quick’s January event, Awesome Games Done Quick, brought in $1.58m for charity in 2015.
