Third annual event grows in attendance to reach around 102,500 visitors
The third annual GC Asia conference closed on Sunday with a final attendance rate of 102,500 visitors, as organisers Leipzig Trade Fair hailed the show as a “resounding success”.
The conference was the first to host the DICE Summit Asia, while the whole four-day event itself saw as many as 50 speaker sessions from the likes of Electronic Arts, NanaOn-Sha, Gas Powered Games, Eidos and Sony’s Japan Studio.
The attendance rate was up on last year’s event, which attracted around 92,000 visitors.
"Four days of expert insights, lively exchanges of ideas, business collaborations and exciting premieres of new games and activities have come to an end,” said Wolfgang Marzin, Leipzig Trade Fair CEO.
“We are very satisfied with how the convention has evolved into a must-attend event for everyone involved in the games industry.”
Eidos life president Ian Livingstone said he was pleased to meet officials and discover more about how the Singapore government is supporting its own games industry.
Gas Powered Games founder Chris Taylor was upbeat about the event’s impact. "It was a real honour to be invited to speak at D.I.C.E Summit Asia and it is exciting to witness the growth of the gaming industry in Singapore as well as Asia,” he said.
“For the business of gaming, Games Convention Asia is the perfect platform for the exchange of ideas and inspiration to keep it going."
A date for next year’s GC Asia event is yet to be announced.
