Swedish outfit Starbreeze will not be developing The Darkness II, a sequel to the 2007 original that it had created for 2K Games.
Publisher 2K, a subsidiary brand of Rockstar owner Take-Two, revealed today that Canadian outfit Digital Extremes is working on the project.
The game is set for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year.
Starbreeze, famous for its Chronicles of Riddick games, had a quiet 2010 following its chart-topping year prior.
In March last year EA revealed it had cancelled one of two Starbreeze deals; the first being a Jason Bourne title.
The second, codenamed project Redlime, is thought to still be in production. Last week Starbreeze announced it was hiring for more staff.
