Customer names, phone numbers and e-mails may have been stolen
1.8 million Square Enix member accounts may have been compromised after hackers gained unauthorised access to its servers, a spokesman for the publisher has revealed.
An unknown number of servers were breached that could hold data of one million members in Japan and 800,000 users in North America.
The servers with 300,000 European members have apparently remained untouched by the hackers.
The breach is thought to have compromised information such as customer names, phone numbers and e-mails.
Square Enix has maintained that “there is not possibility of any credit card information leak”.
The members service is still currently offline whilst a “broader internal investigation” takes place, and the incident has been reported to the Japanese Government.
