Spil Games have introduced a new activity feed feature to their social gaming portals.

The activity feed allows players to see and share their awards high scores and achievements with friends in a constantly updating list on their personal profile pages - as ‘news feeds’ do on social networks.

Developers will benefit from this significant addition as it will bring virality to their games and expose them to a wider audience of keen players.

The activity feed is the latest addition to Spil’s social features, which have proved popular with 130 million unique visitors per month. It is live now across Spil’s gaming portals catering to teens (www.agame.com) and families (www.games.co.uk).

“As our user base grows, we want to provide tools that optimise user experience and allow our users to connect and communicate with one another,” said Oscar Diele, CMO of Spil Games.

“The activity feed feature will combine huge amounts of information into a seamless information feed that meets the different needs and lifestyles of our target groups.”

According to Spil Games current usage statistics, the new activity feed debuts amid 420,000 daily postings of achievements, 150 high scores every minute and 200,000 comments each day.

The most popular games in Spil’s network will appear in the feed too, enabling users to fast track to them with ease.

Spil Games have carefully integrated social features according to their three target demographics: girls, teens and families. They found that girls favour comments and user-generate content, while teens like awards and high scores.

So sharing awards and viewing high scores will appeal particularly to teens, who enjoy completing and displaying their success.

The activity feed is available in 14 countries, with plans to incorporate it into Spil’s social gaming portals for girls later.
