'While others have shifted their message and changed their story, we were consistent'
Sony’s Andrew House took a dig at Microsoft for its Xbox One policy reversals after taking the stage for the firm’s Gamescom 2013 conference.
House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, said that Sony had been consistent in its message, and suggested certain other company’s had not done the same.
Microsoft has previously taken U-turns for Xbox One on its daily online check-in policies, pre-owned and the need for Kinect to be constantly connected.
“While others have shifted their message and changed their story, we were consistent in maintaining a message that is fair and in tune with consumer desires,” he said.
“We strove to deliver a platform that delivers both power and great value. And the response we’ve received has been nothing short of incredible.”
Sony’s last E3 conference is famous for taking a dig at Microsoft’s Xbox policies, having taken the time to announce on stage it would allow consumers to share used games. It later emerged however that publishers would still have some control on how they dealt with the pre-owned market, if they chose to do so.
The firm also released an instructional video just after E3 on how to share a game, showing Shuhei Yoshida simply handing a game to SCEA VP of publisher and developer relations Adam Boyes.
