Centre to encourage game development in the Niagara region

Silicon Knights backs Niagara incubator

Canadian developer Silicon Knights is contributing to an incubator scheme in Niagara, Canada.

The incubator project aims to foster new-media businesses in the region and help keep ‘new media’-trained graduates in the area. Also involved with the scheme are Brock University, Niagara College, City of St. Catherines, Niagara Region, Niagara Enterprise Agency and Interactive Ontario.

Speaking on having Silicon Knights involved in the project, St. Catherines mayor Brian McMullan said: “They are the largest game developer in Ontario and having that real-time knowledge and experience here at the table is critical.

“When we talk about efforts to retain young people and the jobs of the future in a knowledge-based economy, this is clearly one of those business generators that we believe will help St. Catharines become well-positioned to participate in the interactive media sector.”
